Introductory Flights over the beautiful Sussex countryside
Southdown Gliding Club offers you a choice of two experience flights, both of which also entitle you to One Month’s Membership of the Club during which time you can use all the facilities of the Club, have instruction, launches and flying of club gliders at normal club member’s rates.
After a ground briefing you will be aerotowed to 2500 or 3000 feet, then the instructor will explain the action of the controls and guide you through some simple manoeuvres during your flight.
After your flight, you will be given your month’s membership certificate which you should produce on subsequent visits. Membership starts from the date of your Introductory Flight, and we hope that you enjoy flying so much that you decide to join the club as an Annual Member.

Buying and booking
Buying a voucher and booking a date are two separate steps.
1. Choose your experience and buy a voucher, online or by phone on 01903 742137
2. Wait for your voucher to arrive in the post. Allow up to 7 working days from the date of order
3. Book your date on the Schedule Your Trial Flight page or by phone on 01903 742137
We fly introductory flights on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with occasional additional days. Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and are non-refundable. Full cancellation and refund terms are on each experience page and in our FAQs.

Option 1- Standard Experience, Including One Month’s Membership
After a ground briefing you will be aerotowed to 2500 feet, then the instructor will explain the action of the controls and guide you through some simple manoeuvres for a flight lasting approximately 15 – 20 minutes.
Option 2- High Flyer Experience, Including One Month’s Membership – Our Premium Offering
If you want to make that gift of a flight extra special, you can select our High Flyer option. The glider will be towed up to 3000 feet, typically resulting in a longer flight. This will give you a greater chance of encountering that magical rising air that glider pilots long for.
